Life IS on Mars. I read 'A Princess of Mars' when I was very young, and still to this day envision Djor Kantos hanging out with Carthoris, sipping a cold one, reminiscing about how 'dad' in both families kicked some major ass back in the day, before there was a Warlord of Barsoom. Heck, throw Woola in there, cuz you know those Martian hounds prolly lived to be ripe old doggies.

Some peole will believe anything. Some people won't accept the truth, even if it's about to kill them.

John Carter is there. Dejah Thoris is there. Ulysses Paxton is there, along with Kantos Kan, Tars Tarkas, and every one else from that beloved series, if only in my imagination.

They're rocks. Until we get better pictures (and I could tell those pictures have been "enhanced," I visited the site you linked to) or bring the stuff back, or otherwise get better evidence than just those pictures, I don't see any reason to think they're anything more than rocks. Remember, when folks first started looking at Mars through a telescope, they thought they were seeing "man-made" channels on the surface. So far, we haven't found any proof that those "channels" are anything but natural. |

Movie of Martian - not a rock
You can not claim that the movie shows a rock, can you?

Wow, such a small picture, such lousy resolution, and such a lousy place to post stuff like this. I'll stick with my ERB characters for 'life on Mars'

science before science fiction
I find the whole the life on mars thing to be an interesting topic since their are only a few good pictures of the planet's surface and even less actual material that has made it back to earth to be studied. To put it into perspective; it took over 20,000 photos of earth from a weather satalite at a distance of about 100 miles above the eath to prove that there is life on this planet.... imagine the kind of money it would take to send a satalite as large and as expensive as a weather satalite all the way to mars? The pictures that we see on TV coming from that little RC car thing that we have up there are coming from a camera about the size of $300 digital camera. When i see a person walk on mars and shake hands with that thing from alien then i will be a believer too. But for now Earth is the only party in the galaxy.
