Oh I see. I didn't quite understand if you could or couldn't make Logic Gates at home. Now, that I know that my circuit is relatively useless.

Well, then heres my next question. I want to develop USB devices (I thought making a logic gate would be a nice way to start, but i guess not) So what could I make/build that would be a nice Newbie project for a newbie USB device developer?

- Cheers, Daniel

You want to create a USB device? Again, something you cannot create at home. You can definitely take a hard drive and convert it to a USB external drive. t's not a rocket science, but a nice project.

Please define what you mean by 'develop'. If it's something software related I would be glad to help wherever I can. Please visit thread in my signature as I have tried to summarize some good USB applications there. I have also tried and created a bootable USB in past. I hope it proves to be a good starting point.

Okay, let's modify Tejas' comment a little-- it's not impossible to create gates or develop a USB device at home, but highly impractical for anyone who doesn't have a few advanced degrees and a few million dollar's in specialized equipment.

Fact is, one can breadboard any of the circuits we've discussed in a fairly short amount of time, but expanding much beyond that is a waste of time, space, and energy.

I agree and stand corrected. Or you can buy an FPGA and program it at home.

archnaid agrees: Even better!
madhyena agrees: Or a way cheaper PIC. But I still don't know what the original poster wants...
