What are the PC games coded in? ex Amiga MC6800'r wants to know more

So, I think I may have got the bug again after modifying my BIOS so that I can add a SLIC table to it(don't ask but Windows 7 never looked so cheap!).

I am hoping against hope that some people use assembler or 8x86 as it might be known for something. I have a feeling that the language most games and most demos are mostly written in is C++ I found C real hard going TBH.

I am willing to give it another go.... really though with a 64 bit 4ghz(OC) A9550 and 4 gigs of memory, a 8800GT I would expected much better than even the Crysis at the highest modes I can play(it is supposed to have that wow factor...)

I would love to show people what we could make happen with a few tricks(both coding and mathmatical tricks) a few good artists and a few good musicians that could work with soundtracker.... and a barely 8mhz processor, 1/2 megs of RAM, a few custom chips called Paula and Denise... we also had a BLITTER.... this was what totally made the Amiga better than the Atari ST.

Is assembler used for anything anymore? As I said I reckon most games/demos are coded in C++ but I need info on this so I would love peoples views on this.

I once said I would NEVER own a PC, now I build and OC the buggers insanely... for me, for friends(friends that don't mess with BIOS settings that is) and it grows on you.... but when I got the Hex editor up(and a few other utils) the spark was lit. Mind you I once said that there would never be a good PC game and I kinda love WoW!

C/C++ , maybe some parts that need more optimisation (speed speed and more speed) are writen in assembler but this is rare.

Of course I am talking about games more demanding than Solitaire and similar.
