Using xcopy to copy certian files from desk top

hi
how do i use xcopy to copy certian files from desktop or from witch ever drive its being loaded from to c drive?

would this work?
xcopy %path%\test.bmp c:\test.bmp \q \y

i found out this wont work from desktop..
xcopy %~dp0test.bmp c:\test.bmp
but it will work from c:\
