Batch file to uninstall firefox

Hi,
I am new to programming and my skills are quite basic, so forgive me if this appears easy.

I work in a school where we have had a problem with kids installin firefox (which is not authorised to be used in school). We have now stopped them from installing the program.
I want to write a batch file that looks for firefox installation (if present) and deletes it. I want this to run each time the PC is booted.

Can someone help?

now, the installation...you mean the "installer file" or the actual program directory

I'd guess neither. He want to actually kick off the uninstaller for firefox.

My vote is to just add firefox to the approved software list. It's a perfectly valid program. Kids aren't using it because they think it will help them get around any security you've put in place, but because it's their preferred browser elsewhere and it's just more familiar to them than IE. And if you're still using IE6 it's a ton more secure.

you should install ocs inventory, scan your network, and see what else is installed you don't know about. i used this at a school a while ago and it will let you know a lot about your IT environment.

Thanks for the replies. I agree that firefox is probably better than IE. But my network admin doesn't want them to use it. Not too sure i guess just kick to uninstaller off. Do you think this would be the best move? The uninstall is called helper.exe. I just want to ensure if they do some how find a way to get it installed again that it wont stay on for long.

there's always portable firefox. i guess you're screwed either way.

My network admin has disabled the USB ports and all external drives.

you can still download it and run it from the desktop.

Maybe, the are unable to download .exe's. I'm sure if they are clever enough they will find a way, but i doubt that many of the kids have the brain power.

i think the easiest way would be for you to download the software i mentioned above, look for the computers that have firefox, then just uninstall it remotely using remote desktop. that's probably what i would do to be honest.

I have been doing this, but it can be time comsuming. I thought that a batch file would be an easier option in the long run.
