The Bigger and More $$s The More Fail?
:-( 5 PSUs, (2-1000W, 2-1010W, 1-1200W' only a 1010 is fully functional. 1200W quit after 1 day running 2-280s and I7 system. 1st 1000 and 1010 were DOA, 2nd 1000 will only power on after turning off and disconnecting for 30-45 minutes.
It seems in the last year, I have spent more on PSUs than the total for the previous 10 years and had way more failures. Especially since the high failure rate is with the excessively expensive and all I used to buy were $30 OEMs. Granted a 1000 to 1200W PSU has to have more circuits to function efficiently and hold correct voltages. Its BS when paying $225 to $350 to act as China's friggen Quality Assurance. Has any one or a group put together a list of the units having the lowest failure rate or at least a forum to heave loads of dissatisfaction and bad press on the manufacturers? ![]() |

What brands and models were you getting?
Also all of those PSU's should have been under warranty which would have allowed you to get it fixed/replaced for free. That and it sounds like you may actualy have a bigger issue here if all of those PSU's arent working properly. Could be a computer hardware issue, or even very likely, a problem with the outlet you are using.

110VAC tests good with tester and VOM. PSUs tested in 2 houses. Xigma had requirements for RMA I couldn't meet and they are A--h01s. 1-OCZ and 1-Tagan used from eBay. The used ones work; working RMAs for the new(?) ones. Reading the reviews on Newegg, have seen several multiple failures with ppl that know what they're doing. Have been in electronics long enough to have my own tube tester and o-scope. Been building computers since 86. ![]() |

Excessive heat and transients are the most likely contributors here. If you don't have an UPS in place, I'd start there.

Xigma are known for poor stability. Get a Corsair or Antec PSU. Steer clear from the 1.5kw Thermaltake PSU and the OCZ PSUs. Buy yourself an Antec Quattro TP 850w or a Corsair 850W and your computer should be a happy bunny again
