Oryxx psu
i'm not sure if the other user had a faulty psu coz iv'e used at least 7 of the oryxx power supplies on extremely high end systems, no problems at all.
In my experience they look the part and perform just as well.. ![]() |

The fact that their website doesn't list an address, and a WHOIS returns an individual would personally make me not want to go near it with a 10 foot pole. Looks like a startup company that sells rebranded merch (why do they sell PSUs, then a keyboard, mouse and USB microscope?). I'd stick with something I know a trust.

Longevity Review
I bought a FPS AX500A, aka Blue Storm 500, in July 2005 for US$110.82 (yes I still have the receipt). This power supply was reviewed a few pages ago, but I thought it may be appropriate to list my experience with it.
It powered a P4 Prescott running Seti@Home 24x7 its first year. Then that machine got switched over to Folding@Home still running 24x7. In summer 2007, I retired the P4 and put the ps in a PentiumD machine, still folding. In spring 2008, I shut down all of my machines, and the ps went on the shelf. In December 2008, it went into a Q6600 machine and is running fine, overclocked and folding. This is the only ATX power supply I have had that did not need rebuilding within the first year. All the others of various brands had cheap under-rated output capacitors that leaked (at best) or exploded (at worst). I have yet to break the seal on this one. In brief, expensive but it was worth it .Ben N1NP Last edited by n1np : February 7th, 2009 at 02:48 PM. Reason: wrong year |

I'm recommending Sirtec. They have been in business for over 15 years and as a matter of fact, they are one of the biggest PSU OEM manufacturers. Many of Thermaltake PSUs are manufactured actually by Sirtec and same applies to Chieftec, etc.
I've tested various models and they are all rock solid, stable, and reliable. The 12v rails are always 11.96-11.98v on constant 100% load; tested with multimeter. Many of their models, if not all, also sport a variable pot that changes the 5v/12v voltage. You can get to this pot through the radiator fan grill. The units are also built with good capacitors and other components as well. You can feel right away that their PSUs are quality. At the moment, we're only ordering Sirtec here at the firm - they are that good. I'd say performance-wise 4/5 since they are not the best the market has to offer, but as price 5/5 and they offer the best price-to-performance ratio. There are lots of reviews available- see this link. ![]()
