Exclamation PSU and Combined DVD RW Question

My brother's mate has replaced my PSU from a 300 watt to a 350 watt as the fan inside was making a lot of noise. Since then I installed a new graphics card and now my DVD RW wont burn audio CDs but can only be used as a standard CD RW for burning data and reading CD ROMs and DVD ROMs drive (I haven t tried burning a DVD yet.) Nero 6 states a power calibration error which leads me to believe that not enough power is available to run my DVD RW at it fullest while Media Player reports an error as 0XC00D11AB on burning CDs.

And I reformatted and re-installed Windows XP Professional but that haven t made no difference.

The full spec of my PC is as follows:

NVIDIA GeForce 6200 256MB
Intel Celeron D 3.06GHZ Socket LGA 775
2GB RAM
6 Built in USBs (4 rear, 2 in front)
3/4 PCI Slots (1 slot PCI for an additional 6 USBs which is required.)
1 AGP slot (NVIDIA GeForce 6200 256MB)

Can somebody tell me if I need to upgrade to a higher PSU and if so which wattage would be preferable specially if it powers down my DVD RW from burning to CDs and DVDs. Apart from the problem indicated my PC is running perfectly.

Any help in this matter would be very much appreciated.

Have you tried a different brand of discs? I used to get the power calibration error, which is along the lines of "I can't figure out how much to turn up this laser to burn this particular disc". Too much or too little power will render a disc useless. Audio CD's need to be burned a particular way to allow older players to read the burned discs. Data Cd's are more lenient since even an older computer rom is capable of reading at different speeds and can adjust.

[edit] also try this... go to services and applications..then services...
Find the IMAPI and start it( left hand side once you have clicked on this link)...
then change it to automatic by right clicking... go properties
and change to automatic...
Also try with the Nero buffer turned off (at a lower burn speed of course) and see if there is any difference. [/edit]
[edit x2]The wmp error is likely from the nerofast plug in. remove (not disable) it and wmp should burn OK afterward.[/edit]

I have used many types of branded disks and still cant burn CD audio or DVD. Nero 6 keep saying power Calibration error and Media Player comes up with error code 0XC00D11AB. I tried the other you suggested but it already set to automatic and everything in device manager relating to my DVD RW drive says it working fine, I even scanned for hardware changes and everything checks out fine. My DVD RW is just over a year old so I know its not the drive from failing or faulty.

I guess it could be the PSU then; just to keep going down the path of the things ratsttam has suggested:

Read the first post.

Some other great suggestions here.

Keep us posted, good luck.
