Enermax 485W noisemaker
hi all.
anyone heard about the Enermax noisemaker 485W? i heard it has 2x12v rails but only has 18A on the main 12v rail.
so my question is, is it good enough especially for high overclocking? cuz im abit suspecious if 18A is good enough. im currently using a HEC Windmill 385W and it also has 18A on the 12v rail. and i feel it will not be enough for my eventual oc, as it was fluctuating abit at 2.6ghz on a asus mobo, but it could be the crapy mosfets on the asus though
i will be using:
psu: i dunno yet
abit an7
2x256mb generic ram dual channel
2600+ xp-m
6600gt 128mb
1x80gb sata and 1x40gb ide
dvd writer
cd-rom
many fans
thx

I use a 470W noisetaker. It works awesome. The dual 12v rails add up to over 30A !! That is more than enough, you just have to make sure to plug the right thing into the right place

im not a complet noob to psu's but that 2x12v rail is new to me, could u explain me how it works? ur saying i need to know where to plug the right stuff at the right place? do u mean i have to know where to plug all thos fancy extras's like that pci-e 12v thingy and that rpm thingy and all that? if so its not a prob, but for that 2x12v i know it use full amps for the mobo on the main 12v rail and the second is for the rest of the hardware, but do i need to plug the right molex at the right place or something like that?

Nah, basically it just makes sure that whatever needs the load gets it. One rail is used for CPU, the other are used for devices/cards that require power. There's a main connector to the mainboard, a bunch of molex's, and another long cord that has 'extra' power, so you'd hook that up to devices that require lots of power and it would use the 2nd rail. It's not really 'plug this certain thing here' it's just making sure not to overload one while you have the other available.

so basically, the cpu will use the first 12v rail, and the rest of the hardware, the second rail? and ur saying theres an extra plug for extra power, this one is also using the first rail?

Enermax alllll the way. Enermax is by far one of the top choices of PSU makers. Sure there are better, but there are a LOT worse. Enermax makes quality products and has a pretty good warranty - 3 years on the noisetaker series. Good stuff! Heavy as hell, too - which usually means good sinks !

EnerMax, hands down. I've actually taken mine apart and seen the boards and components inside. They're impressively durable and well built. I've been around electronics for a good 7 years.
I have the big 660W with four 12v rails. I just wanted to rub that in.

If your willing to pay for a "noisemaker", then buy a 520 from OCZ. Much more reliable and stable rails I might add. Adjustable rails aswell. Can't go wrong. From the reviews I've read and personal experience with the noisemaker, it isn't that great.
