Battery problems

Hi,

My Laptop (Toshiba Sattelite M35X) is around 4.5 years old.

1. It is giving me battery (CLPC1012) problems. It used to hold the charge for around 2 hours. Now it can hold it only for 30 mins.

2. There is a loose contact for the charger. I have to place few books on the connection to the laptop and play around it for few seconds to get the position right. It charges the battery in 30-60 mins.

Questions:
1. How do I find out whether the problem is with my battery &/ charger &/ charger connection?

2. Is it advisable to replace the battery &/ charger? Or is it better to go for a new laptop? Apart from this the laptop is working fine.

3. If I have to buy a battery &/ charger which shop or website is a good place?

Thanks a lot for your help.

eBay is a good place to go for both the brick and replacement batteries. Where is the damage at? If it's on the motherboard of the laptop itself, then you will want to get a good electronics tech to look at it or take it in for repair.

If you go the latter route, then you may find that a replacement laptop is the cheaper route. (and feel free to send me the old carcass )

I was reading to see if I could add anything and Stang seems to have covered it all for the hardware.

As I was reading I was wondering whether the was potential for a new strong folder (with 2 graphics cards). I am not sure if the 4650 can fold or not and there is always the questions of whether you want and are able to be part of the dev folding team and fold to cure.

Hope the all goes well, let us know how it turns out.
