Turn off monitor under Power Options

Hi,

I have noticed that my monitor may stay on long after the time limit set in Control Panel/Power Options. This usually happens after I retire for the night. I have determined that the only time it happens is when I place my Logitech Lasermouse in its charging cradle,... if I leave the mouse on the pad, the monitor shuts down, if I place the mouse in the charging cradle, the monitor stays on. I have no idea whether there is a fix for this.

Cheers

Sounds like the mouse is some how moving inside the cradle or it's still communicating with your PC. It also might be vibrating a bit while charging.

Is the cradle hooked directly to your PC? If that's the case that might be keeping it away too. If not try moving the cradle away from your PC so that it's out of range and see if that works.

Why don't you just turn off the monitor? I know that doesn't solve the problem, but if you are going to sleep, you could just turn it off.

It's quite pointless paying for an application that nothing but a fancy user-interface to the following line of code:
C++ Code:
Original - C++ Code
  1. SendMessage(HWND_BROADCAST, WM_SYSCOMMAND, SC_MONITORPOWER, (LPARAM) 2);
Nevertheless, when multi-monitors come into play then there's UltraMon - a freeware utility that does a lot! Viva la productivity!
