Laptop Not Recognizing DVD-ROM drive
I have an ACER Travelmate 240 laptop running XP pro SP2. Recently I've had to format the HDD and reinstall windows on it. Went perfectly except for one thing - the dvd-rom drive has disappeared. It's there in BIOS but it's asleep at the wheel. I've D/L'ed new chipset drivers from the ACER website and installed them but this hasn't remedied the problem.

Can anyone help me get this sleepy drive awake?

see if the drive is listed under device manager

Nope - not listed under device manager. And I can't seem to get the add hardware wizard to find it either...

help...
