Keyboard problems: some keys work occasionally.
Hey, first time poster here and I'm very glad to have found a great forum!
Alright, I just recently got an HP Business Compaq nc6000 and I'm please with it. About a week ago however, a few of my keyboard keys work only occasionally. I don't recall doing anything that would cause it to break (like, spilling a drink over it, or slamming the keys extremely hard). Also, this fact may by important, the keys that I have a problem with are 2...w...s...x. They belong to the same 'column' where the left hand's ring finger touches. These keys work normally at times. Sometimes they only work if I press REALLY hard on them. Sometimes they don't work at all. Is it posible to fix this by myself? Thanks for your time! |

same problem!!!
Hello it's the first time I post on these forums and I hope someone here will be able to solve my problem...
In fact I have the same exact problem as Veege04. The only difference is that my keyboard is kinda older than his, which means I don't have any warrenty on it anymore. It also isn't an Hp keyboard, which I guess won't allow me to use that RMA thing (actually I don't even know what RMA is:/ ). It's just a no-name company keyboard... The sad thing though is that I managed to repair it two weeks ago only by cleaning the circuits inside the keyboard. And like the last guy said, the 2, w, s, x and caps lock buttons are indeed all connected to the same circuit. Although I thought my problem a solved it did it again tonight and cleaning everything several times didn't help at all this time. Any solution would be appreciated. (except the -buy a new keyboard- one lol) |

RMA'ing something is just returning it for a replacement.
Sounds like the only solution for you atomik is to buy a new one! lol... You can pick keyboards up pretty cheap these days so i dont see the problem, it would be more of a hassle trying to fix the old one if the circuits are up the tree without a paddle.

Agreed, unless you want to x-ray the board and look for the hairline fracture that's causing the problem and repairing the run.

F*K*N hell,
keyboards for a tenna??? Ive got a nice alluminium silver one with nice keys and design for only £4 and thats was a rip off, look on www.ebuyer.co.uk and they go for less than a pound for a nice new one. COME ON, Keyboards are worth nothing these days unless its some fancy bluetooth or fingerprint recognition thing, thats different.

A nice thing is to also check dates on threads. On a lighter note, hell, if I get a defective keyboard, I'm takin it back, I'm not fooling with it.
