Bluetooth Keyboard and Mice
Hey,
I am looking for a decent Bluetooth keyboard and mouse. But it seems the only decent paired kits, are more expensive than buying them individually. (At least so far in my hunt) I also do not want to pay more than £50 which makes things tricky. However the question is.... the receiver you get from say, a keyboard, will it work with a different mouse? My understanding would be its just a generic bluetooth receiver? Thanks, Niall |

its kind of hit and miss, if your getting a bluetooth keyboard/mouse try and get a device from a similar maker, i had a logitech bt kb/mouse a while ago and with generic bluetooth recievers it really didnt like and would randomly disconnect or misstype my words, with the device that came with the kb/mouse they worked slightly better.
Technically any bluetooth device should connect to a bluetooth receiver, its just a case of hit and miss really, worst that could happen is you buy something, it doesnt work, you send it back fr a refund

True, Can you suggest any good ones then for no more than £50?
Its got to have a fairly decent media capability, and look swish and be good enough to play games... am I asking to much for £50? Any suggestions would be great, Thanks, Niall |

i think you are, i had the logitech mx 5000 laser keyboard and mouse, fully bluetooth, in windows it worked fine but in games it just wasnt fast enough to make the game playable, also check the price http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/k...es/162&cl=us,en
granted thats usd so your lookin about 70-80, its probably the best combo set you will ever get, plus it comes with its own bt adapter, and i suggest you use it cos any other adapter and it will not be so good. Matty |

Ah I was looking at one of these, they look good, but not so good for games?
OK - so is there a bluetooth keyboard and mouse out there that is good enough for games? The thing is I have just bought a big monitor (which is why the budget is so small!) and want to be able to sit on my bed with the monitor on the other side of the room, normal wireless don't have enough range, and wired, well they just look cack. So are there any other options out there? Other than perhaps routing wires under the carpet?! P.S thanks for the quick response! EDIT: It has to be said I really like the keyboard above, how un playable is it? |

if i still had it you could have had it just to see how bad it actually was, the mouse would stop because it just cant keep up, the mouse boasted 1600DPI but that is pointless if it cant tell your pc what to do fast enough. it was seriously like having so much lag in a game that you had to move the mouse several times just to turn around... it either didnt register the fast movement or would start then stop and stutter the movement... and i even bought a seperate mouse to try out with and it had exactly the same. seriously if your into gaming get a razor or other wired mouse.
the bluetooth keyboard was a major letdown too, it wouldnt let you press more than 2 keys at once... for example, your crouching, moving forward, you want to strafe instead, you would need to stop pressing forward, wait for the keyboard to register that, then press right... far too slow recognition time to make playing tactically even remotely possible. i havent got another bt keyboard to try out. i understand the whole sit on your bed while controlling your pc on the other side of the room, i never did figure out that one... i just had to wrap up my keyboard/mouse lead after using them |

Woah! Right then wires i think it is for me, btw, I found a cheap bt keyboard on ebuyer: Nexos 2.4GHz (cant get the link now am at work).
So how about that for messenger, films, music etc then wired for games seems to make more sense! Tonnes of thanks to you, you really cleared that up for me! ![]() |

no problem, i think bluetooth is a good idea but it fails in so many areas no one really wants them, tell you what, spend what you would for a keyboard/mouse on a massive chair you can relax into and sit right in front of the machine itself.... i modded a leather chair so i had a pad for my mouse and keyboard i was quite happy in my leather pit for quite a few hours gaming
