Another "strange" keyboard problem

Running Toshiba Satellite A35-S159 with Windows XP Home with all updates, etc. Nothing has ever been spilled on the keyboard. Problem is when I type the letters "t", "y" or sometimes "u", the cursor jumps to another part of the screen! For example, my name is Darryl. When I type Darryl, the cursor jumps so that the letter "L" after the "Y" in Darryl ends up on another line or another part of the screen altogether. Has anyone had this problem or more importantly....a solution??? Thanks!!

No, no eraser head. The mouse is a separate approx. 2"x2" rectangle below the keyboard.

There must be others 'out there' with a similar problem! Typing has gotten to be an absolute chore, having to re-locate the cursor, delete the incorrectly placed letters, and rt-typing, hoping the letters will end up in the right word!!

I know this is a bit of a silly question but, how do you type? Does your arm rest at all on the mouse pad?

The only reason I say this is that you can replicate the random mouse movement by putting your arm or palm on a pad and moving it about a bit, plus, 't' and 'y' are right in the center of the keyboard, so maybe your palm or arm or thumb are straying a bit onto the mousepad?

I used to do this with my thumbs!

Niall

Nope! I'm a reasonably good typist. My fingers, wrists, etc. do NOT come into contact with the mouse.

Perhaps this is a software problem? Have you tried another OS at all? Perhaps a live cd?

Just another thought, when your in say a web browser will it click off the address bar when ypu type your 't' 'y' keys?

Or is it just wordprocessing? Try notepad, just to see that its not just a specific program that is causing the issue?
