Toshiba satellite L300 display problem

Question Toshiba satellite L300 display problem
I have the above laptop which appeared to have a backlight problem. I replaced the inverter to no effect and then the lcd which also failed to fix the problem.

I can use the laptop with a screen plugged into the side (video obviously working...) but would really like to use the laptop normally.

I would really appreciate any pointers as to the what the problem might be.

Did you change the cable between the inverter and the display?

Enable BSOD: Control Panel/Systems, Advanced Tab, hit the Settings button under Startup and Recovery, and under the System Failure area, uncheck the Automatically Restart checkbox.

No, I haven't considered the cable - I guess that is the obvious next step. I will try it and post back.
