PC gaming with only usb game pad

I'm new to pc games , but im sick and tired of a lot of them asking me to use my keyboard all the time. Just like a console i just wanna sit back, and play my game with the joystick, or controller. Is there any software out there i can use, to allow my games that do make me do this, run off of my controller instead...any help would be appreciated...

why would i be nuts for wanting to use one?

lots of games allow you to use just controllers its just a case of finding a game then mapping the controller to the games liking... if the game doesnt support it then theres software that will let you map directional pad moves to keyboard and mouse movements.

just gotta google it as i dont have the software to hand anymore.

because mouse and keyboard is where pc gaming is at its best. you never see people playing css with a gamepad (and no the shitty xbox version dont cut it. But then again it depends on what game your playing

then again xbox players are used to having to flick the analog sticks to hit some guys thigh.... its not a case of whether it sucks or not, he just wants to use a joypad... its like IE sucks... i know that, but im still using it to post on here...
