Gigabyte GA-81k1100 FF Sata install.

God i can't believe i'm going to ask this.........Ok here goes.

Just had to go reformat my system and gone through the usual polava of getting the relevant sata drivers onto a floppy disk to ensure the sata hard drive is detected during the XP install.

Anyway F6 on CD boot and choose ICHR5 (i've actually chosen all the options on the floppy out of desperation) and none of them work.

It loads the drivers from the floppy but then states that a hardrive cannot be detected.

The hard drive is detected by the bios on boot.

So the thing that stumps me is that i installed this system years ago, which means ive actually installed this drive before and have got away with running repairs on windows for the last 4 years so not having to reinstall. But now i've come to it IT WONT LET ME!

The only thing i can think of is that the hardrive is caput, but it does attempt to boot when i load from the hard drive, it just freezes on the windows loading screen (same goes for in safe mode too) i believe its on loading an AGP driver. I've attempted a repair to the boot sector to no avail and tried the xp repair where it reinstalls windows without formatting. But this tries to detect the hardrive too. Which brings me back to square 1....

So what now people......?

Hello to all the longstanding members that i've not spoke to for quite some time!
And my apologies for having to make my comeback with such a n00b question! I'm ashamed ha.

Ok i'm a top class IdIoT!

I forgot that when it gives you the options of the drivers from the floppy disk that you can scroll down. And low and behold....The driver i needed was there. So all good, i'm currently letting it do a full repair, hopefully saving my boot partition and all my software installs.

Anyway hope that helps a few peeps in the future if they have the same problem. No doubt they will have common sense on their side and won't need my useless help!
