Hmm, imagine that, the Klipsch's expensive? Well jaggoff, are BMW's and Lexus's expensive? YES they are, because they make HIGH QUALITY SHIT! The Klipsch 2.1's OWN any other 2.1 system out there within a 100$ price range, same goes for the 4.1's 4.2's and 5.1's. Yes, they are a bit higher priced, but your also getting a MUCH better product than most. Remember, Klipsch does 1 thing. Makes AUDIO products. Nothing else, just audio and they are good at it. Get your focking Monsoon and Logitech POS's outta here, they simply don't compare. |

actually for decent speakers the Klipsch are rather cheap. *Go to a nice stereo shop. *Not Best Buy and look at how much a nice 2.1, 4.1 or 5.1 system would cost with a small amp. BTW there is much more to sound than loudness. (Edited by memphist0 at 9:39 am on Sep. 17, 2002)

Thank you all for your input.
I have just tested thoroughly in my home head to head both the AL 621 and the KL 2.1. I and my wife were very impressed with the AL 621. IMO, It seemd to have a full mellower sound. The Klipsch has a better bass and seemingly higher end performance. They are substantially different. The Klipsch has headphone input accessible, and subwoofer adjustment on the sat. The price at Circuit City for the AL 621 is 150, which seems high. Best Buy gave me the Klipsch for 160, a good deal. BTW, any of you audiophiles remember the Alt. Lans. clam shell acs 300 with sub? They just went out on me (no power). the speakers are probably good still. They were terrific in their day, but I can't see paying someone lots of dough to put it on the bench, even if it just needs a two dollar capacitor. If any of you are techies and would like my old acs 300, you can have them if you pay the shipping. I live in Wisc. I hate to just toss them. Thank you all for your help. I'll probably go Klipsch. I've been to that Best Buy in Greenfield and had a similar experience. There seemed to be a very small computer knowledge base there. One of the staff broke some flourescent bulbs over one row of the computer section, and I ran for cover, being a few feet away.
I bought at the Appleton Best Buy where I live. I was lucky enough to speak to the manager who seemed really knowledgeable. (He owns the $550.00 Bose system himself). American sells the Klipsch for $179.97. I was somehow able to "make a deal" with the Best Buy guy. There was a $20 rebate last week, which I just missed, so they did a nice thing for me. Just one other question which comes to mind: I use the PCI 128 Audio card. Would upgrading to the PCI 512 (for 50 bucks) substantially increase my sound quality with these Klipsch I bought? I don't want or need 4.1 or 5.1, and I believe the same sound engine is in all these cards (24 but). What do you think? Thanks again all, especially Visionism. Sandy |

Sandy, since you stepped up to the Klipsch, get a good sound card. The Santa Cruz or Audigy should fit the bill very nicely. Remember, it doesn't matter if you are running 2.1 to 5.1, the audio processor determines how good it will sound through the Klipsch speakers. Last I saw, the Santa Cruz was around $70 at CompUSA. You stepped up for the speakers, now step up for the sound card.

Is the Santa Cruz by Turtle Beach as widely compatible with hardware/software as SoundBlaster touts their cards are?
Are there any foreseeable applications with which it is known not to be incompatible? thanks again, folks. Sandy |
