Building a new computer

Hey im in the market for a new computer so i thought id put together some pieces. I just wanted to make sure it will all work together. i of the things im not to sure about is the PSU i dunno if 680W will be enough. Anyways heres my setup:


Video Cards
EVGA GeForce 8800 GTS SSC Video Card - FREE Crysis PC Game, 640MB GDDR3, PCI Express, SLI Ready, (Dual Link) Dual DVI, HDTV, Video Card x 2

may l say that it will work but its an ugly build from the get go. whats your budget and where are u located???

also can u wait a month for the new ati cards and the nvidia cards?

im in canada ontario, and i got a budget of lets say 1500$ give or take. and yes i could wait a month i havent heard anything about new cards but im guessing there gunna be like 700$ when they come out

well lf your in ontario then l suggest finding a q6600 or if u can a q9300 from ncix, 2 gigs of ddr2 800 or 1066 and either a gt200 or a hd4870 when they come out. those cards would rape the dual 8800's 640s in a fight

id wanna go 4gb ram, vista supports up to 4. and any idea about the pricing around the card. i heard ati wasnt as good as nvidia lately and nvidia has kind of taken over.

well the new 4870 is looking to be a monster with a rumored 480stream processors and gddr5 ram on the card. and vista 64 bit supporst way more than 4gigs and also 32 bit vista wont see 4gigs of ram due to pagefile.

yea i was thinkin about buyin a case/psu this weekend and starting off slow buying parts vid card, mobo, and cpu prolly last since they are updated so quickly and if i buy one now might be outdated in a month where case/cpu wont be. any recommendations on psu im guessing 1000+ watts

the case you're buying already comes w/ a psu, right? if so, see if the psu will handle your components--if not, then buy a more powerful one.

also, just one hdd? no wd raptor for your os drive?

there a little pricey arent they i can get a reg 7200 rpm 250gb for like 75$ i already got an extra 1tb drive to back things up i kno raptors r a lot faster but havent heard they make a huge difference
and im buying PSU seperate from case
