Last post here was in 2004? I have an MSI mb with a P4 2.5 ghz Intel cpu, 2 gb ram, ATI Radeon 1660 video card w/ fan and 512 megs ram. I'm running at 48C idle and 62C with load.
Should I be worried? Others are posting 30's and 40's but that was in 2004.

depends on the cooling that is being used, better coolers generally result in lower temperatures. But I've always thought temperatures are a rather poor way to determining anything. Stability is the bottom line, and though you dont want temperatures to get too high, as long as it is running fine you have nothing to worry about. If you are looking to overclock things then temperatures can come into play, but every chip responds differently to increases in clock speed, voltage, and temperatures...simply put what person A experiences with his chip be completely different than person B experiences with his chip, even if they are of the same revision.

Oh and for the sake of the topic...
CPU at 32c, gpu at 80c

Phenom 9500 (AC Freezer64) HD 4850 (stock), all packed in a tiny V350.

It's running great (somehow I think I shouldn't have said that), but most of the posts I've read are posting readings in the 40's. My wife has a P4 2.4 ghz and it runs at 30C. I was thinking that I was frying the poor little thing at 60C.

Thanks all for the great answers, great group you have here

is it a prescott or a northwood core? You can use CPU-z to find that out. Your temps are perfectly fine for a prescott, a little high for a northwood, but not that bad.

Yeah, it's a Prescott. I have it down to 42C no load and 46C with load now. I put new silicone paste under the heatsink and a wind tunnel on the side of the case. It runs to about 2" from the cpu and blows the hot air out of the case without needing an extra fan.
The thermal paste did not make ANY difference in temp, the tunnel lowered it by ~ 16C under load.

Athlon64 X2 4200+, runs around 33°C idle with the board sitting at around 30°C. Haven't checked load temps tho. Having too much of a video card issue to actually fire up a decent game.

I think my video card runs too hot and that's what's giving me the high temps. It's an ATI Radeon 1650 with 512 mb.
