Changing an old PC CPU Fan
Hello,
I wanted to change the very noisy CPU fan of my daughter's old PC. The computer tecnician I contacted ordered a spare one, but some time has passed and it has still to be delivered. I only know the external dimensions of it that are 1.57"x1.57"x0.39" thk (mm 40x40x10) but I have some PC data that are: Motherboard "i440 BX-ITE 8671" Soyo, Chipset Model: Intel 440 BX/DX/ZX, Processor Pentium III 500 MHz. I wonder if in case of unavailability of the right spare fan it is possible to fit another one (by means of an adapter, e.g.). I'll be grateful to you if you give me some advice about that. Best Regards |

No, it doesn't. It's square shaped and the tecnician pulled it out easily (no screws)

If you feel like rigging it up, just about any fan with the appropriate plug will do the job, especially larger fans, as they can run slower and still move large amounts of air (as long as you can fit a 120MM fan into the space :-)

Thanks for the suggestion. I the meantime the technician (at last!) has found the right fan and installed it. Best Regards |
