I am running Windows XP Home Edition but when I shut the PC down, it reboots again without no intervention from myself. When I tell it to shut down at the logon screen, it shuts down without any problems. What is causing this problem and how can I rectify this?
I scanned the system for spyware, adware and malware and even performed a virus scan and all is fine I don't really want to re-install windows or perform a repair if I can help it because it will take me hours to install all my software that is installed. |

Please disregard last post as I managed to fix the problem. It wasn't a software fault that I expected but a simple hardware problem. I installed a 5 port USB and 3 port firewire PCI board a few weeks ago and somehow that was causing the reboot after shutdown. I have no Idea why this happened but maybe you guys out there may come up with your own reasons, but rest assured it started rebooting after shutdown over the last few days and everything was fine before that. Any Ideas would be nice as it may help me in the future.

HI there.
Did you install the drivers that came with the board? JohnDowe. |
