I did not tried it but it should work: link
There should be no problems with 8800GTX. Some games will work with "wine" and some will not work. Also some games were ported to linux and some are not. You of course know that games for windows can not run natively on Linux ? |

Cedega is more for gaming than wine is. For a list of games supported by Cedega, check here: http://cedegawiki.sweetleafstudios..../Category:Games
Those will all run on cedega, and have been tested. I don't see Crysis, Gear of War, Turning Point or UT3 - though I do see TimeShift, UT2 & WOW. Just because its not there doesn't mean it won't work - just that its not guaranteed or tested. 8800 GTX will not be an issue - just make sure that you download the proprietary Nvidia drivers, or it will not act in the way you would expect. |

Open Office is largely Microsoft Office compatible.
I've actually had better luck opening some Excel files with OO than with Excel itself.

Cedega is wine based. |

Kind of - Cedega forked from wine before wine was released on the LGPL (its why Wine moved to the GPL). Whereas Wine is basically an implementation of system calls that replace windows DLLs; Cedega is more an implementation of DirectX on the Linux Kernel; it uses wine's DLLs to do so, but it is aimed at games that run on DirectX (Windows Games) instead of OpenGL.

For using MS Office the perfect solution is CrossOver Office. It works like in Win. (maybe without VBA). For games Cedega... but wine is getting better (about 60% of WinAPI has been rewrite). I think when will be Wine 1.0 most of games/apps will run on Linux. (Distro doesn't really matter)
