WinXP - System Freezing
Hi
Just hoping someone can help with my issue. My system has began freezing everytime i log in. The machine is operable for about 5 minutes before it freezes and i have to reboot. This happens everytime. I have tried to re-install Windows but during setup the system freezes. I have got as far as entering the product key. Could this be bad memory or perhaps a problem with the PSU? I had previous issues with the BIOS in that no display would appear on the screen when i started up. So i re-flashed the BIOS and the problem went away for a few days but now this freezing. I'm wondering if the MOBO is no more good. Any help appreciated. |

Could be caused by a few things in my experience from PSU failing, heat problems, gpu, motherboard and software (although we can rule out software if you have tried to rebuild already).
Please provide your sytem stats to give us a better idea of what could be causing this. btw - The last time I had this it was caused by the PSU not being able to provide the CPU(q6600) and GPU(8800gtx) with enough power/amps on 12v rails, replaced PSU...sorted.

Is this a recent build, or has the system been running normally up to the point where your freezes started occurring? Any changes to the hardware of the system?
Check the fans, run memtest 86+ and do give us the specs as IceDragon asked for.

Very interesting. I was thinking along the same lines as the PSU but besides replacing it how can you tell.
Would a voltmeter help here? The system is a FS SCALEO P Desktop. MOBO is OEM. Product ASUS A8NE-FM |

Hi there.
The problem could also be because you reflashed the bios with an older bios. My point is that many things happened in the few days before it started to crash on a regular basis, so check everything you did and then post all you did and we may yet find the problem and FIX it. JohnDowe. |
