Removing WMP 11 - never had previous WMP - totally screwed

Everywhere I look they tell me you can't uninstall WMP 11, just roll back to what your OS had before you upgraded to WMP 11.

However my OS installed WMP 11 at the time of installing the OS, so I don't have anything to roll back to! Therefore under Add/Remove programs I do not have WMP11 components available to uninstall.

I have the installation files for WMP10 but it won't let me proceed because "a newer version is already installed on this computer."

So irritating!

Well, if you have WMP11 install files from OS installation, you must have slipstreamed them into your XP install CD.

If this is the case, all my past experience and reading indicates there is no way to roll back.

just out of curiosity... why do you want to go back to WMP10?

don't like the WMP11 interface? Doesn't run smooth? I think the new interface is pretty... things seem to work smoother than with 10. But i'm using it in Vista, so the experience may differ to that of XP...

It really has nothing to do with WMP11 other than the iRiver T10 is totally incompatible with it and rolling back is the only option.

To my brother, who is the owner of said T10, WMP10 and WMP11 are no different.
