Screen resolution changes by itself

Hi.
The screen resolution sometimes changes by itself at boot-up.

Maybe 1 out of each 10 boot-ups, the screen resolution comes on as 1280 x 720. When I go to change it to 1600 x 900 (recommended) it's already set to 1600 x 900, except the screen res is actually 1280 x 720 (very large, missing icons) I have to set it to a lower res, keep it, then set it back to 1600 x 900 keep it and all is well. It happens when monitor power supply is always on and monitor shuts off to sleep mode. It also happens when monitor power is always on.
Thanks in advance, bill48nj1

So is it changing all the time, from cold boot and display sleep mode? Try updating the drivers and check the display settings.
