Problem flashing screen
Hi all
i am new here and been searching for answers for a problem i have with my PC.
while trying to watch a movie or play a game at night my screen keeps flashing it seems to only happen when the aircon is on it is kinda hard to click on anything when the screen recovers as once i click on an icon its starts the flashing again the memory and other devices have been checked and fine but the last thing is the graphics card.
i have a Nvidia fx5200 128mb old i know and before i attempt to change it i would like to know if anyone else has come accross the same issue in my past computer i had a nvida fx5500 that also given me problems but in a different manner.
so again i am looking to hear if this has happen to anyone else and if they know of a fix because if it turns out to be the card that has had problems i have another 14 computers to sort out..
i hope my post is clear if anyone not too clear i will be more than happy to add more info.

Your complete system specs and operating system details would be a good start, particularly the latter as the FX 5200 for instance, is not supported well by Vista or Windows 7 and the drivers can cause these types of problems.
Also, how would you describe the flashing, is it really subtle or extremely noticeable to anyone? Does it happen only in the situations you describe, or can it happen just surfing the web, while the pc is booting up, etc? Also, you mention it happens when the air conditioning is on, but is it fine when it is not turned on? If so it could be an issue with the power in your home, have you tried using a UPS, surge protector, or any kind of filtering to ensure your pc/monitor is getting reliable and stable power? What about the monitor, have you tried using a different display method, IE if you are using DVI now, have you tried VGA?
more details would help paint a picture of possible causes.

thank you for your reply
my system specs are
Asus P4PE2-X motherboard
intel P4 2.4
1GB ram 2x 80gb hard drives
Nvidia fx5200 128mb
running windows XP pro service pack 3
as for the screen it will go blank for a few seconds come back on and it can keep doing that for a while and as before it only seems to do it when the aircon is on but after restarting the system sometimes it will not start until the room gets back to normal temp i was running a 28 inch LCD but switched back to my old 17 inch CRT and its still doing the same thing.
this problem seems to only really happen while watching a film or playing a game but not so much with playing games.
as for the power side of things i have a UPS unit plus a surge protector as well.
i hope this infomation will help you a little more and hope i can find some fix for this as i have another 14 more systems of the same specs and one of them also has a minor problem on switching on..

What drivers you are using, i mean what version ?
Try with some older drivers. I had the same problem with older card and newer drivers.
Try with drivers you get on CD with your card (if you have it) or try here link

In this case I am sure you have problems with drivers. Just find old enough driver.
I had the same problem with 6600gt and it was happening with all newer drivers.
Unfortunately I cannot remember which version worked.
