if they're stable then they should be fine, but as with any overclock it will shorten the life of the part. i'd watch the temps under load though, as those seem a bit high for my tastes on idle

no no no, their designed to last much much longer than that and it only takes away a little bit, but still have that overclock on a profile if your program supports it and switch to that when playing games and switch back to stock when your not.

perfect, you read my mind. now if you would like to get out of my head before you see some things that will scar you for life, it would be greatly appreciated. lol jk and Crysis on an 8500? good luck with that...

The card when I overclocked it today was acually handling medium settings at about 27 Fps. But at one point I acually thought I broke it because I was trying to see what the card could handle, so I turned it up to the max the program would let me, so about 900 for the core. And all of the sudden, although I wasn't surprised, I lost signal and the screen went 8-bit on me in all these colors, its hard to describe. But don't ever try to overclock by more then 250 MHz. Because it took me. A long time to get it running normal again. LOL

actually, i beg to differ about the 250MHZ thing, it just depends on the card. I've got my old PCI X1300 overclocked to about 650 core from about 440 stock
on stock cooling too |

maybe the 8500 just doesnt overclock well.... im not going to have this card for too much longer anyway, im hoping to raise enough money this summer to go out and get the 9800 gx2, then play crysis on very high...maybe even a new moniter too, cuz right now im using a crappy 19 inch dell crt. maybe a nice widescreen one.

lol by then a 9800GX2 won't be worth the money for it compared to the new cards coming out later this month

they'll be the GTX280/260 from nVidia and ATI is coming out with the HD4850 and HD4870 just a little after that. and as for finding out about them, i mainly watch sites like this one and http://www.tomshardware.com
