I think if you want more fps you need to oc the memory clock. Get memory sinks (maybe water cooling?) and then up the memory speeds some. It is hard to believe that's an nVidia card with the core so high for a 5900.

do you have any idea what you talking about? how can you compare the clocks of a 5900 to a 6800ultra...seriously.

no r3g, don't lower the core. That's good to have but the best thing for fps is the memory clock. Also if the card plays all but hl2 fine then i would suspect that it has to do with the hardware capabilities of the 5900. Some newer games require more than just high clock speeds.

Flash, to flash a card means to write data to the bios area of the card. If you flash a card you actually make that card into what you flash it to without the hardware. By flashing a card means to make the driver software think that the card is a better model and therefore let you oc it more than before by providing more of a maximum oc range and in some cases maybe allowing more power to the card. That is what I gather about flashing but I have never done it to any of my cards except motherboard, but the motherboard flash was to upgrade the bios to a newer version.

an mx420 might be able to go to a mx440 but its really pointless to flash it.
and the 5200 might possibly be flashed to a 5200 ultra.

but remember, inorder to flash a card, the cards must have the same type of memory(hynix, samsung) running at the same speed(5ns,4ns), and they must have the same PCB
