GTX 260 'core 216' Power usage!

Hey guys I need some help.

I currently have a 550w PSU, and i have one 12v rail running at 17amps... The other running at 18 amps.

My current sytem is:

Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 @ 2.66ghz
4 gigd DDR2 @ 800mhz
1x 500gig Hard drive
550w PSU -35 amp on 12V rail
ASUS 640mb 8800gts OC
1x 120mm Fan
1x 80mm fan

If I get this GTX 260 I will not be overclocking.

EVGA: You need 36 AMPs on the 12v Rail.
BFG: You need 38 AMPs on the 12v Rail. configured with an Intel Core®2 Extreme QX9650 processor)

I don't really want to buy another PSU

Thank you

8800GTS 640MB = 147W TDP
GTX 260 = 182W

So extra 35 Watts is what you need. When you figure you have 37a on your 12v, check on the stsicker too make sure it doesn't have a '12v will not exceed XXX Watts' cause you will usually find what they say as the max per rail is done individually, and not combined.

You should be fine, but check out that as well whilst your at it. For your own sake and knowledge.

Shouldn't be a problem as long as your psu is a decent quality.

Ya 350w should be enough but really depends on the reliability of you PSU.

My system that has a GTX280 and E8400 @ 4.0ghz was only running around 330wats under load

Hmm i'm not sure on the make of the PSU.

Its a 'MESH Gaming PC' if that helps.

Well i'm ordering the GTX 260 (Core 216) this weekend.
So we shall soon see i guess haha.

I've done as much research as possible I think.
Would be an awesome upgrade tho. I Would just love to be able to play games like farcry 2 on high.

Thank you guys

Bates
