Going from HD3870 to 9800 GT

So I got the HD 3870 last year when It was new and I liked it a lot. I got great performance and handled all games with relative ease, from Bioshock at highest settings to Mass Effect.

So, now, I get Fallout 3 and got it running great, highest Res on my 22 inch LCD, the whole deal, ya know?

So I get this ATIMKDAG error, windows says the Driver stopped working, and I can't play any games now without this error.

It's annoying. I searched these here internetz and found not a single viable solution. I mean, I tried everything within reason.

So now, I decide screw ATI, I had them before when I had a 9500pro back in 03 and I had similar driver problems. I'm going back to the good guys at NVidia. I'm looking at a 9800 GT, retails around $150 at newegg, give or take depending on the manufacturer and etc.

My question is, what is a comparable card to the HD 3870 on the Nvidia side? I'm maybe looking for a slight upgrade, but nothing major. I'm looking in that 150 price range as well. Quite honestly, I was happy with the performance of the ATI card, but this driver thing has got me so pissed off I can't bare it any longer.

Thanks in advance.

A 9800GTX+ is probably your best bet
A 9800GT will do good also if your strapped for money!
Both use only a single 6 pin connector from the PSU
I've never ventured over to ATI just because of their shitty drivers - Nvidia for the win!!

I'm not strapped for cash, but I don't have all kinds of money to be throwing it on a video card. I spent nearly 300 bucks on that 3870 when It came out, and here we are a year later and it retails for 99 bucks new.

I did see a 9800GTX on newegg for $129.99
