Cold boot with a bfg 985gtx oc

hi everybody I'm new here and have a little problem with my new 285gtx

i tried it in 2 computers, one has a power supply from ocz modular 700w ( modxstream) and a motherboard gigabyte 965p-ds3 rev3

other computer has a power supply ocz gamexstream 600w and a motherboard 965p-ds3 rev1.1

problem is i tried the card in the first pc, the one with the 700w, the first boot was fine but nothing happeared on the screen, i switch it off, reput it on, i get the 1 long 2 short error, so i need to hold the power button to shut it down. i restart it right after, and it works fine... few days later, the first boot worked, but screen went black at the windows login

after that, the card rested for 1-2 weeks until i get my gamexstream psu, i installed the card into it, first boot, worked perfect, but this morning on first boot the screen went black on the windows loading, the 2nd boot got the 1 long 2 short error, and third one worked.... it seem to be a cold boot error, but the weird part is, the first boot when i installed the card worked for the 2nd pc, but not the first one, so maybe its a problem when some power is still in the card, and its in cold boot,

i want to also note that when i get 1 long 2 short beep, the fan spin like crazy..

and sorry for my bad english its not my first language,

thanks, and have fun

Have you also replaced the memory (ram)on the comp recently ???
Make sure the ram is properly seated
Could be the ram on the cards is faulty...time to RMA if the card is still under warranty

i forgot to add both pc work with my 260gtx, so it's the card, or a problem with a 285 and that motherboard...

I plan to rma it but i'm kinda tired of being without a computer, I had to wait 2 weeks for my power supply since it was out of stock, so i want to test out all possibility first.

if it's the ram on the card, can i test it with a mem test, and can the ram on it be only faulty when it's a cold boot? because all my games are actually working after these 3 boot.

He wasn't talking about the memory on the card, he was talking about the Memory sticks, make sure they are properly seated.

Also, you cannot use memtest to test the memory on the Video card, it will only test the system memory.

Your best bet is to start the RMA process on the video card.

cold boot 7900 gs

Hello.

I'm also getting a cold boot with a 7900gs (256/256) and a 400w power supply. I know nothing about the card's past history (ownership) - I got it from a recycling centre, but I suspect an exaggerated over-clocking. The card is receiving power (the cooler is spinning), but I don't know if it's enough (supposing that it's working).

If anyone has some ideas about more specific issues or some solutions, I would gladly update the post with more details about all the components' manufacturers.

Thank you in advance,
Leo
