I'd suggest revamping your whole computer. Either phenom II or Core i7 based depending on the budget. I'd replace your PSU as well... Apevia isn't exactly known for its quality and GTX 260's can put quite a strain on a PSU.
But as for your 260 vs 7800gt's... Well they aren't even in the same league. You're current rig is going to hold the 260 back quite a bit, but it will still be a huge power gain for you.

My plans were the following......
Asus M3N72-D Nforce 750a SLi Mainboard 4GB Mushkin PC28500 1066 Ram AMD Phenom 9600 Agena 2.3 Quad-Core This is in the budget in the coming weeks.....If you know of a better plan for under $300 I am all ears....I shop mostly at the egg. Thanks for your reply. |

avoid the 9600 Agena, either go with a higher clocked dual core or invest a little more in the newer phenom II. The Agena core does not clock well, especially compared to the newer stuff, and at stock speeds most of AMD's dual cores will be faster unless you are using applications that take full use of the four cores.
My advise, get the 7850 Kuma based X2, or see if you can come up with a bit more cash to drop on some of the higher end chips. Because if you can really take advantage of a quad core, you will want something higher end, if you cant you may as well get a fast dual core.
