can't be done.
and your right, fusion is not the ONLY way forward. you can build hundreds of off shore wind farms for less than a fusion reactor + research.

Well, in Canada people are very well off. At least around Quebec and Ontario they are. The entire population is fed by hydro-electric dams. It's a renewable source and isin't dangerous in any way. Only thing is that we have water, most countries don't... Works wonders though, zero pollution after the dam is built. Aren't they great?

but it will play a key part in the future...
I know, but it would be interesting as basic physics says that a coil of wire moving through a magnetic field creates a current, it's the tech behind microphones...I built some during class and they workd wll, except that it was weak wires and almost no output (we used amplifiers)

using amps takes away the point! lol.
and the mag thing is creating current. that's how dynamos (old school tech now) work. but you can't use it to transfer current... pity really, magnetism is one of the few things that doesn't hurt humans much.

Zero pollution, but it still damages the enviroment around it, like the three gorges dam, what a waste of such a beautiful enviroment.. Still.. electricity, or greenery... gotta be electrcity... But still, It's one of the most green sources.

Actually its more like "green" or "green"...where one is living paper (trees) and the other is dead paper (money). And the amps were used to amplify the signal because it made a current it was just very weak. We also made speakers so the amp was only used to add power to the signal before it was transmitted through fiber optic cable to the speaker. Worked pretty well we had fun picking up radio with the speakers :-P

My $0.02
Fusion can be VERY harmful. I think to some extent, it depends on what element is being fused. IIRC lithium is used in fusion bombs- and yes, fusion bombs exist. They start with a fission explosion to generate enough energy to start fusion.
From Wikipedia:

More advanced nuclear weapons take advantage of nuclear fusion to derive more energy. In such a weapon, the X-ray thermal radiation from a nuclear fission explosion is used to heat and compress a capsule of tritium, deuterium, or lithium, in which fusion occurs, releasing even more energy. These weapons, colloquially known as hydrogen bombs, can be many hundreds of times more powerful than fission weapons.

well look at the Swiss. ALL done by HydroElectric. and they even have enough spare to sell on to the Italians!

Yea, but, when used for proper reasons, it's very safe.

*chuckle* no...course not...cause even in high-powered nuclear reactors we're still making power with turbines. uranium creates heat moves water moves turbines...even at such a high level energy is wasted (that is assuming I understand how they work)

That's about right, water made into steam to propel turbines to generate electricity. At least that's an older method to do it, they may have better designs now.
