I guess the terrorists were relying on people descending into utter panic and suffocating on the tube, but we're not American, and so didn't stay put until help arived, and took it upon themselves to leave... (how low can I go??)

naa, im way out of B'ham. well to the west...
but that's the main point of terror, it's not to hurt, kill or do damage... it's to make the survivors think "what is im next". sure they kill loads of people, but it's all the people who didn't go into work on friday that were the real targets.
which is why i think the B'ham tip-off was delibirate, to scare people.
