Wired Router Firmware Flashing
I was interested in putting an open-source firmware into my router, but it seems all the major projects like OpenWRT and DD-WRT are for wireless routers whereas my router is wired-only. Does anyone know of an open source firmware for wired routers, or if these other projects can do wired-only? My router is a Linkskey LKR-604.

a simple google for open firmware should provide you with an answer as to weather such firmware exists, to be honest, i dont think so
but the question you have to ask is this:
What would you actually do with the open firmware that you cant already do with the existing firmware?
i can understand with operating systems and peoples "thing" about making sure they are updated, but with routers theres no real need to update them, unless you know of an obvious flaw/broken function, in which case, mention it to the manufacturer.

As bobman has said, no real need to upgrade unless it doesn't work properly...and that said, is there not a firmware upgrade from the manufacturer which would probably be best anyway.
