Weird network problem
Hi ! I have a little BIG problem with the pc... Few days ago I had to change my motherboard on the PC... now I have an ASrock K7S41gx, I reinstalled win xp sp2, I see on Control Panel- System that the Ethernet adapter driver is ok, I inserted the Ip, gateway, DNS servers etc...on Internet protocol as soon I entered win xp and now I can see I can't connect to Internet by Mozilla or IE! The weird fact is that on Network Connections I see the Local Area connection as Connected no problems...
I still can connect to Internet by a Macbook laptop running Leopard.
When I installed win unusually it asked my to enter a domain or a workgroup name. I did not used my ISP default workgroup because I did't use this before with the old motherboard. Maybe this is the problem? My internet connection is made of a server that gives internet to a network of PCs connected with some switches... I think is called LAN/T1 or something... Please help!!!

My ISP said nothing about a domain or workgroup... I simply used that numbers(Ip, DNS...) that they gave to me! Now I don't know what to use an how... And why on macbook Internet does work very simply and on Win does not??

What, eactly, does your computer connect to? I'm assuming you have a network cable, but where does the other end of that cable go to? A modem? Another computer, or a server of some type?

ethernet- utp cable- switch- server. i think is rather a mac registration problem.... they record the mac at servers and then if u change the mac as i changed the motherboard, then u are unable to connect...

Then it is merely a matter of informing the powers that be that you had to repair your computer and give them the new MAC.
