Router question

Ok here is a intresting question, I have a netgear router that i am currently using but it is far away from my computer and i get a crappy signal. I have an older dlink router that i came across in some of my boxs. So here is my question is there a way to set that router up half way through the house and use it as an acess point to increase my signal?

yes. on the dlink, disable dhcp and give it a static ip address.

Yep, you basically change it from a router to a wireless switch. All router's have the option to do this.

Does it ahve to be hardwired to the other router to do this or can i do it wirelessly?

i know with linksys routers you can have them scan for other networks and have them become AP's for that wireless network...look into that

any places i should look? I am not quite sure what i am doing here lol

I would say it has to be hardwired, I wouldn't know how to set it up otherwise.

the only way you can do this wirelessly is to use equipment from the same manufacturer. you cannot mix and match dlink with netgear to make a wireless bridge. dlink and netgear both make repeaters for their products so just purchase the repeater that is compatible with one of your routers.
