Hello All
I'm brand new, so thanks for having me! I am having networking problems, so I loaded XP Home (from the same CD as the problem installation) onto a new HDD to experiment. I fixed my networking problem on the new install, and intend to replicate the settings on the problem installation. The problem is that the "Authentication" tab on the Properties for my Connection was missing. So I read that if you go to services and start the "Wired AutoConfig" service the tab would appear... and it did... The problem is that 2 of the check boxes that are on the new installation, are missing on the problem installation The missing check boxes are: "Authenticate as computer when computer information is available" "Authenticate as guest when user or computer information is unavailable" I need the second one to allow access from my other computers. How can I get these two check boxes back, or where can I set these options elsewhere? PS the problem installation has SP3 and the new installation is SP2. Thank you so much in advance, I appreciate it!!! |

Are the checkboxes missing or simply grayed out?
If they are grayed out, they can be enabled by selecting the first checkbox marked "Enable IEEE 802.1x authentication for ths network".

Hi,
Just not there at all?? |

Thank You... It is probably a moot issue as I succumbed and decided to do a fresh install of XP, I just had too many problems.
So now my tabs and all of the check boxes are where they should be. So unless you are a curious person like me, don't spend the time. One note is that on the new install, I did not install SP3. Unless there's a good reason to do so, I'm not going to either... a lot of my problems seemed to crop up after SP3 install?? Thank you so much for your time !!! |
