Discuss Is there any missing?? in the Networking forum on Dev Hardware.
Is there any missing?? Networking forum discussing setting up network printers, Wi-Fi, GigaNet, 802.11, Ethernet, T1 and T3 connections, routers and firewalls, NICs, IP addresses, DNS errors, and troubleshooting networking problems.

Is there any missing??
i have : 1 usb broadband modem
1 router/switch/modem/wifi (3com)
1 pc desktop
2 laptop

how can i create network using this item??the usb modem can talk with pc(through usb). then i plug cable from pc to modem all-in-one, the 2 laptop still can not go to internet..

Is there any missing?? please correct me if i am wrong.

Your modem should have a WAN port, then you'd connect the Modem to your router and connect the 3 systems on there.

if the modem have the ethernet, it will not be a prob. But the usb modem is just like thumdrive, just plug into usb port in your computer & configure something than the pc will go to ISP. how can the 1 desktop&2 laptop can connect to internet using 1 desktop(with usb modem)??

well, you can do this with ics on xp; but, it would require your computer to be on whenever another computer needed internet. can you ask your isp for an updated modem?

i know that. but my client want to use the usb modem ..
then i just plug-in the usb modem into desktop and configure the desktop to give ip address to other computer that connect throught modem all-in-one.
Then modem all-in-one just only for switch and wireless..
