Configuring NetMasks Proirity and Mac address Priority

Hi guys I have just flashed my linksys wrt54gl router with dd-wrt firmware and I was hoping that if there are any wireless techs here that might be able to help me better understand certain settings in the dd-wrt firmware.I have bought the dd-wrt special edition that you would have to pay for and i am seeing in the QOS Section that there is Netmasks Priority and Mac Address Priority.Could any of you explain to me how these features work? What I am trying to accomplish is I want to create a wireless network at home and anyone that connects to the network i want to be able to cap each users bandwidth so that 1 user won't eat up all the bandwidth..I know it is possible but i am having trouble configuring the settings...Hoping you guys might also be familiar with dd-wrt firmware...Please help..thanks.

well ok guys even though I didn't get much support from the dd-wrt forum I was still able to get information on what those 2 features in dd-wrt are and even try it out and test it because of my persistence and a little common sense. For anyone who don't know what is dd-wrt..It is a firmware upgrade that would turn your cheap $60 router into a 150-600 dollar one.You can read about it here http://www.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv3/index.php make sure u check out the supported model lists to make sure that your router is supported then read the wiki for help on how to install it..The netmasks and mac address priority are 2 features in dd-wrt that would allow u to specify the ip address or mac address of any user that is connected to your network and allow u to modify their bandwidth usage.Simply put, any user or lists of computers that are connected to your wireless network Or Wired [Ethernet] u would have the power to cap or limit their bandwidth...(Only with the purchased dd-wrt special edition). It is a very handy feature for in the event 1 user on your network is using torrents or streaming a large video or even downloading a large file they won't hog all the available bandwidth on the network and slow other connected users. In my test I preferred to use the mac address..I just simply get the mac address of the pc that is connected to my wireless network add it to the appropriate field in dd-wrt in the QOS tab. Then specify how fast I want their connection to be..I put in 512kbits down which means they can basically download between 40-60 kb/sec they can't get over 60....apply the changes and in less than 4 seconds changes are in effect. If u have any questions or are just curious and would like to get more information feel free to PM me..I would be glad to help.
