Question Rip DVD to PC

Not sure where this thread should go.

I recorded from my camcorder onto DVD which plays great, however the PC cannot detect the same DVD so that I can rip onto my PC. The Disk isn't copy protected and I can see that the DVD has been burnt but the PC just recognize the DVD as blank. How can I rip this DVD disk of mine?

What software did you use to burn to DVD?

What format did you save it in?

Did you finalize the disk?

(1) I burnt directly to DVD Recorder using the s-video and the audio plugs that came with my camcorder.

(2) Format? DVD plays on DVD Player/recorder but not on PC and just say its blank. Format is unknown until I rip/play to PC.

(3) Yes.

OK so you burned to a standalone DVD writer...check it's manual for settings.

I think your problem is because the DVD isn't finished. The player/burner you used can read it, because it created it, but nothing else can, until you finish the disk (which will then prevent any further writing to the disk). Like IceDragon said, read your manual for how to finalize the disk. Some standalone players can be really annoying on this regard.
