Connect phone to PC
hi,
i want to connect my PC sound card instead of a phone reciever.Check attachment for diagram. the use of this would be that if any one on a voice chat would like to talk to someoene on the phone all i do is just connect the CIRCUIT A.I tried to connect this directly,it only works one way. can someone design CIRCUIT A for me. |

ok,let me explain,
my grandmother stays in my country & my father stays abroad.my grandmother does not have access to the internet while my father cant afford international phone calls. my father voice chats with me everyday.................now i want to send/recieve the voice signals that go into the reciever of the phone into the sound card of my PC so that my grandmother can speak to my father. i tried doing this directly but my grandmother can hear my dad(who is on voice chat) but my father cannot hear her.when i asked some one they said that there was an extra DC signal coming out of the phone.i was advised to use a capacitor to stop the dc component.but as i have no knowledge of capcitors i want either an alternative circuit or atleast the capacitor rating. thanks have a look at the diagram,i want CIRCUIT A |

That's still not really making sense...

this seems very plausable, what i would suggest, is researching the voltages of normal mic's and speakers. then, take a phone handset you don't need, and break it open, when it's on, check the volts of the speaker and of the mic part, use some math skills to get them to be the same(the computer output to match the phone, always go down, never up), and plug the speaker in the 'mic in', and the mic in the 'speaker out'. that way, what she says comes into your computer as if it were you talking into a mic, and what he says in the voice chat, comes down the phone mic line as if it were you talking on the phone. does that all make sence? that's what he's going for, I see it. And it should be possibly, but i'd need to crack open a phone and see compatibily. if you can get it working by just spliceing wires together, then later you can be fancy, and use like a telephone wall box to hide the splices and make it look neat.

drumz,
i know that has to be done, the signal from the PC to the phone are proper, only signal from the phone to the PC has a humming sound(i.e. DC component)....for this i need to add a capacitor......for which i need capacitor specification & for that specification i have come to this forum. |

lol... not to sound aggressive or anything but i dont think that this is exactly the best forum to ask... i doubt many of us know much about electronics, we know what pc parts go together but alot less electronics like what capacitor goes where, what resistor to put and what not...
all i know is that for a s-video to rca video cable, you need a 470 PF (picofarad) capacitor... i guess you could just try a bunch of capacitors and see what it gives you.... and you ahve to install them in line. the capacitor i used on my video cable was a ceramic type if that helps any.
