7.1 Helpppp

I have the onboard realtek alc888. I connected the high definition audio instead of the old technology ac97. I bought the creative p7800 7.1. I installed it, but i cant get all the spekaers too work. They all work but not at the same time. I can only get 5.1. I went into control panel in sounds, switched to 7.1. Also went to realtek HD Audio Manager and switched to 7.1 and tested each speaker. I cant get the light grey button to show up. Why does creative make a connection speaker cord to go from 4 colored plugs to subwoofer to only 3 into sound card? Why not 4 and 4? I cant get this to work. I updated all my drives.
