The more I shop for P800 RDRAM, the more confused I become. How many kinds of RDRAM are there? What should I be concerned about in regards to the chip fitting my mother board? My board is a ASUSP4T-E. Anyone?

The first (and hopefully last) RDRAM system I built was a major pain in the butt. If I had done a bit more research before ordering the RDRAM it would have been fine, but I made the assumption that technology had passed the point where you have to add memory 2 sticks at a time. Thanks a lot Rambus! Just make sure you order 2 identical sticks of RDRAM and it should work fine. I only ordered 1 to start with and then had a heck of a time trying to order another one that was identical to the first.

Don't they have RDRAM dummy sticks to use in the "unused" slot, incase you only have 1 stick?

I think RD ram needs to be installed in pair.s If you got 2 sticks, and 4 slots, then the dummy RIMMs would go in there. But what do I know? :silly:

RDRAM needs to be installed in pairs, and if you have 4 slots but only 2 RIMMs you need to have what are called continuity RIMMs in the other 2 slots. Did I mention I don't like RDRAM?

Say, some of you guys know an awful lot about RIMMing a motherboard, is there no limit to depths you will not plumb?

RDRAM IS A WASTE OF MONEY BITCH HAHA....DDR400 IS OFFICIALLY SUPPORTED IN THE NEW SOYO DRAGON P4X400 and IT EVEN KICKS THE SHIT OUTA PC1066 RDRAM!!!!!!!!! IMAGINE WHAT KINDA SHIT NOCKING DESTRUCTION THE SiS648 WILL FUCKING DO!!!*RDRAM WORKS LIKE THIS.....it comes in 800mhz or 1066....you have to buy it in pairs...lets say u want to have 512mbs of ram total..then u need to get 2 sticks of 256 each....or 4 sticks of 128....800mhz rdram sucks because ddr333 kicks its ass and 1066 was good but 400mhz ddr kicks it ass as welll.....if u get rdram then u can suck some big balls....u must be some rich guy...who the hell would pay 300 or more for 512mbs rdram and for an expensive motherboard when u could buy ddr400 with a cheap motherboard and kick the hell out of it in ram performance...haha loser.....u didnt do your research:bluelaugh:
