A few weeks ago, I got a virus alert, moved to quarantine, then a message appeared that I needed to insert a Windows disk since I inadvertently removed some important files.
I had to put my CD drive back on track since I knocked it off, so I removed my CD drive put it back on track then put it all back together. Now it won't power up. I've replaced my pcu, tried a different HD and unplugged and reconnected every cable and wire, yet still no power. please help! |

Welcome to Dev H! How are things in Wrinkle City?
What are your indications? Any lights, fans moving, even slightly? Please list what happens when you turn on the power switch on the back of the PSU as well as when hitting the pushbutton on the front. ![]()

Yes, it is very possible, in fact, highly probable, that you are wrong. You would be a better person if you would just admit that. And I would be less annoyed. ![]() "I like doggies....and apparently dinousaurs, mostly because they eat cats!" --Nilpo |

I've replaced the PSU w/ a new one. Any combo of button pushing causes nothing at all to happen. ![]() |

Hahaha... I don't miss the q-tips at all. I'm a Dixie Hollins grad, BTW.
This may sound stupid, but check your power cord, power strip, electrical outlet. If those are okay, then unplug the computer and let it sit for a good 15-20 minutes, plug it in, and then turn on the PSU switch. Look for LEDs, fan movement, etc. Then try hitting the power button. With a good PSU, there should be some sign of activity when turning it on... |

Thats funny, I got my GED at that school. I did check the cord, strip, and outlet and all are working... Unplugged for days, and still nothing... |

Then I'm afraid the problem is likely your motherboard.
They turned DHHS into a veritable prison since I graduated... |

Well I did buy this as a refurb from Tiger... thats what I get. They also sold this PC with 2GB of ram, but when I opened it up it only had 1 512 stick. I called to complain I would like to have at least 4 GB of ram, could you recomend a brand or a particular motherboard that could support that? Can I use the same AMD 6400 x 2 PCU? Are thay hard to install? |

hey just thought i'd throw my 2 cents in here. I had a problem like this and it was solved by loosening the screws holding the mobo to the case. Turns out they were too tight and the solder points were touching the metal inside the case, making it short out.
