New cpu for laptop
I've got a custom built laptop from ibuypower about 3 years ago and I'm trying to upgrade the cpu. Here are the motherboard specs and the cpu I'm trying to upgrade to. I've put it in and it hasn't worked and I'm trying to figure out if it's just not compatible or if i can tweak something to make it work.

OK, now do you know the chipset type?
I can then look to see if the chipset can physically support the new CPU. In the meantime you could also check if there is a BIOS update available. At some point we will need to try and determine the OEM manufacturer of your machine if you do not already know it. |

The chipset is kind of screwed up. It's an american megatrends mobo with an SiS chipset, but i'm unable to get support for it from either company. I got the machine from ibuypower .com and when i did a scan on esupport it said the manufacturer was "americanfuture." I wasn't able to find anything on them. thanks for all your help.

I would imagine you had access to these if you took the unit apart to replace the cpu or can you place the CPU without dismantling the unit. These numbers will give us a good idea of what the mb/chipset will and will not support, then we need to figure out how to make it support it if it is supposed to. You can also get the main chipset from system devices in device manager. |

Bear in mid, changing CPUs on laptops (unlike desktops) is an "iffy" proposition...good luck though.
