Motherboard not registering keyboard....
I've recently custom built a computer and everything seems to work fine until i get to using the keyboard.
being a custom built computer i haven't got an OS or anything installed and when i start up i got to the startup screen where i am given the option to <DEL> Bios Startup <F12> Boot Menu and unfortunately the keyboard input does not work so i can't configure the bios and i'm kinda stuck. I've tried a usb keyboard (although usb keyboard support is disabled by default according to the motherboard manual) and i have also tried a ps/2 keyboard. when i start the computer with the ps/2 keyboard, the lights (capslock, numlock, scroll lock) flash, and i am also able to toggle the numlock light (not capslock or scroll lock) while in the startup screen, so there is obviously power getting to the keyboard, it's just not picking up the keys. i don't think it is a problem with the keyboard so please any other advice would be helpful. my system is.... Hard Drive : WD 160Gb 7200rpm 8Mb 3.5\" SATA II 300 MB/s RAM : Kingston 2GB (2 x 1GB) Kit 667MHz PC5300 DDR2 RAM Case : ASUS TA881 Mid Tower Case + 350W PSU Motherboard : *Gigabyte GA-945GMF-DS2 [Intel C2D] Graphics Card : *Gigabyte NVIDIA GeForce 7900GS 256Mb DDRIII 256bit TV/DVI CPU : Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.40Ghz [1066FSB/LGA775/8MB Cache] CDRW and DVDRW Drives : LG 20x DVD±RW 10x Dual Layer Black OEM |

any chance you could try the keyboard in another machine?
it may be the mobo itself, if you can take it to the shop you bought it from, im sure they will have the facilities to test it... they should if its under 30 days from the original purchase date

unfortunately i can't test the keyboard on another machine because my laptop doesn't have ps/2 ports.... yeah but i'm pretty sure i've exhausted all other possibilities other than it actually being the mobo itself. i ordered the mobo online from melbourne (and i'm in brisbane) so i can't really take it back to the supplier, gonna take it in to a computer repair shop tomorrow and hopefully they can test it or tell me if something else is wrong. thnx for the help ![]() |

well tbh, call the manufacturer and get them to RMA, make it sound like your the IT pro and you know what your ona bout and you'll get a brand new board...

Short of needing a new board, ya might first try to do a fresh install of your OS...might have been a "hiccup" during installation...
