Likely another AM2+/AM3 thread

So, disaster struck, (as outlined in my thread in the AMD processors section) and I'm left needing a new CPU.

I have a DFI Lanparty DK M2RSH motherboard, and am wondering if I can shove a Phenom II X4 965 in it.

From what I've found on Wiki, and a few other random sites, it seems I can, but I'll need a bios update. Will I be able to do that without having to buy a separate CPU, that works out of the box?

Since we do not know how old your MB is and what the current BIOS is that question may be hard to answer. Even then it may be unknown what CPUs it supports. Probably the only out to find out for sure is to try the Phenom II X4 965 and see if it boots at all.

And if it doesn't, I'm stuck with 2 useless CPUs?

Is it possible to flash my BIOS without a CPU it can use?
